چکیده
Welcome! This symposium series follows the highly successful SPIE meetings around Australia over the past few years and gives you the opportunity for in-depth communication with researchers and developers in smart materials, smart structures, smart micro/nanoelectronics devices and systems, micro-and nano-technology with special emphasis on packaging and integration of MEMS and NEMS for diverse application areas. One full conference will give you access to the latest research on biomedical applications such as bio-surveillance systems. These fields are multidisciplinary and make extensive use of micro-and nanofabrication technologies. You will learn about exciting new developments in nanomaterials, sensors and actuators, as well as in the design and applications of these systems. This program would not have been possible without first the considerable dedication and efforts of the large team of people organizing this symposium, locally and overseas. Additionally, the high quality of this meeting is a direct result of the willingness of the many researchers who have taken the time and effort to communicate the findings of their research work in this international forum. We express our sincere thanks to everyone involved. SPIE would like to express its deepest appreciation to the program chairs, conference chairs, cochairs, program committees, and session chairs who have so generously given of their time and advice to make this symposium possible. The symposium, like our other conferences and activities, would not be possible without the dedicated contribution of our participants and members. This program is based on commitments received up to the time of publication and is subject to change without notice.

Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation
Many representations of the movement of healthcare knowledge through society exist, and multiple models for the translation of evidence into policy and practice have been articulated. Most are linear or cyclical and very few come close to reflecting the dense and intricate relationships, systems and politics of organizations and the processes required to enact sustainable improvements. We illus...

Achieving Integrated Care for Older People: Shuffling the Deckchairs or Making the System Watertight For the Future?
Integrated care has been recognised as a key initiative to resolve the issues surrounding care for older people living with multi-morbidity. Multiple strategies and policies have been implemented to increase coordination of care globally however, evidence of effectiveness remains mixed. The reasons for this are complex and multifactorial, yet many strategies deal with parts of the problem rathe...

Background The importance of evaluating policy processes to achieve health equity is well recognised but such evaluation encounters methodological, theoretical and political challenges. This paper describes how a program theorybased evaluation framework can be developed and tested, using the example of an evaluation of the South Australian Health in All Policies (HiAP) initiative. Methods A f...
